Options for linen cabinets, and how to choose

Each housewife has a significant number of different bedding - pillows, blankets, which take up a lot of space. The question of organizing their storage location is always relevant, because such things cannot be put away in the closet, they should always be at hand so that in the evening you can easily and quickly prepare for bed. Of course, modern sofas and beds have special niches, drawers where bedding is placed, you can also provide a storage place for linen, highlighting several shelves in the chest of drawers. However, it is wonderful to have a special linen closet, where all things will find their place, will be stored in perfect order. Folded blankets, neat, even stacks of bedding, pillows, bedspreads - all this will perfectly fit in a linen closet.

Appointment

It is most reasonable to store home textiles separately from clothes and shoes. This is hygienically correct, because on everyday wardrobe items there are dust, germs, dirt that can get on bedding. The most suitable place where the linen closet should be placed is the bedroom, since the bed is most conveniently stored directly near the place of use. The main purpose of the piece of furniture is the storage of bedding (sheets, blankets, pillows, pillowcases, duvet covers). Perfectly located home and bathrobes, tablecloths, towels, bedspreads. No shoes, sports equipment, street clothes, vacuum cleaners and suitcases have a place in the linen closet. A tall (from floor to ceiling) narrow pencil case looks good in the bathroom, where bathrobes, shift towels, and linen to be washed will be stored.

So that all the contents when opening the doors do not fall out, you need to follow a few simple rules:

  • remove seasonal items away from the wall or at the very bottom of the stacks, packing them in special bags;
  • for constant use, a few sets of bedding are enough, do not clutter up the closet with excess items, it is better to remove them away;
  • do not put too many products on the shelves, the closet should be well ventilated, otherwise an unpleasant musty smell will appear.

Many housewives use a simple secret - they put the entire set of bedding inside the pillowcase from the same set, being sure that nothing will be lost.

Varieties

Since the closet for linen involves the placement of different textiles, the most acceptable will be a model of this piece of furniture with shelves. This storage method provides convenient access to every item, the laundry is not deformed, it does not wrinkle. Some models have high shelves for large items (for example, duvets, pillows) and drawers for small items.

Choosing a closet for yourself, you need to consider where it will be located. For example, a classic version of cabinet furniture is perfect for a bedroom - a product with hinged doors. A sliding wardrobe will fit in equally harmoniously into the interior of the room, which combines the compartment where clothes are housed and the laundry section. Manufacturers offer several varieties of furniture:

  • built-in - if there is a small niche where it is difficult to install much larger furniture, a similar cabinet will allow you to organize comfortable storage of bedding;
  • angular - it is perfectly installed in the dead zone of the bedroom, allowing you to free up the useful space of the room, making the room much more spacious, making it possible to rationally place home textiles;
  • narrow pencil case - a piece of furniture with drawers, takes up little space, while maintaining comfortable storage of linen;
  • a functional linen cabinet with a towel rail for the bathroom.

The storage system for the bathroom can be hinged, floor or rotating around its own axis, with glass doors.

Materials of manufacture

In the manufacture of linen cabinets, various materials are used, the cost of the finished product depends on their type:

  • wood is an environmentally friendly, durable material. A classic-style bedding cabinet made of natural wood looks expensive and elegant;
  • Chipboard (chipboard) - traditionally used in the manufacture of cabinet and built-in furniture for the mass consumer. High-quality material, has a low cost;
  • MDF - the back walls of furniture and the bottom of drawer drawers are made from it;
  • plastic is a material resistant to moisture, mechanical stress, it is often used in the manufacture of furniture for bathrooms;
  • glass, mirrors - are used infrequently, mainly in the decoration of facades or for partial glazing of doors.

When planning to purchase a closet for clothes, do not forget that any furniture has a warranty period and its own operating features. For example, a natural tree requires updating from time to time a protective coating, and the impact of various detergents will negatively affect plastic and chipboard.

Shape and size

When choosing a product, it is worth considering the parameters of the room. In a small apartment, it is advisable to select a closet. In other cases, traditional case models with original decorative design will come in handy. Of course, it is better to give the advantage to a multifunctional closet with a bedding compartment, but if you are picky about differentiating storage systems, you should buy a separate closet or chest of drawers for linen.

Since the wardrobe is designed to accommodate bedding, blankets, pillows and other items of home textile, the shelves in it are made no higher than 30 cm, so that it is convenient to get the bottom items. In shape, linen closets are most often straight, angular, less often trapezoidal, made with one, two, three, four doors, have several compartments with shelves, drawers with a depth of 48 cm, a width of 30 to 95 cm. The sizes of the drawers are always designed for laying laundry in one, two stacks. For the bathroom, manufacturers offer hanging linen cabinets.

Filling

Storage systems are equipped with shelves (pull-out and stationary), drawers. More functional and easy to use linen closet will make additional elements:

  • wicker baskets;
  • towel hangers;
  • delimiters;
  • boxes;
  • containers for small items;
  • hard and soft wardrobe trunks.

In some storage systems, adjustable shelves are installed, which is very convenient, since the height can be changed quickly if necessary. On the door of the linen closet of the bathroom place special shelves where hygiene items, detergents, bath accessories are put. The lower compartment is easy to adapt to the laundry basket. A linen cabinet with a bar on which it is convenient to place towels is also suitable for the bathroom.

If you have chosen a piece of furniture with glass doors, you must always maintain perfect order in it, you can’t hide anything behind the glass. The same applies to open shelves, it is easier to find the right thing on them, but if one of your household is not neat, it is better to give preference to a closed cabinet.

Location options

A laundry room is usually located in the bedroom. This is convenient and practical, since all the necessary items are nearby. If you are not the owner of a luxurious bedroom, this is not a reason to abandon the linen closet, because you need to store bedding somewhere. You can always find the location of the storage system, for example:

  • put in the corner of the room, and you can save space and useless corner to take something;
  • install a pencil case behind the front door.

A not very deep two-door wardrobe also fits perfectly into the interior of a small-sized room. Often its functions include storage of linen (section with shelves and drawers), placement of necessary items of clothing (compartment with bracket and hangers).

In general, linen is best stored in the room in which it is used: bedding for babies - in the nursery, household linen - in the bedroom, and sets for guests - in the guest room.

Bedding, which is stored for a long time in a confined space, gets an unpleasant odor. To prevent this from happening, there should be good air circulation in the cabinet, and special openings in the drawers.
